When you visit our website, our web servers automatically store the IP address of your Internet service provider, the website from which you visit us, the websites you visit on our site, and the date and duration of your visit. This information is essential for the technical transmission of the websites and secure server operation. This data is not evaluated on a personalised basis.
If you send us data via the contact form, this data will be stored on our servers as part of our data backup procedures. We will use your data exclusively for the purpose of processing your enquiry. Your data will be treated as strictly confidential. It will not be passed on to third parties.

Personal data

Personal data is information about your person. This includes your name, address, and email address. You do not have to disclose any personal data to visit our website. In some cases, we need your name and address as well as further information to offer you the desired service.

The same applies if we supply you with information material at your request or when we answer your inquiries. In these cases, we will always point this out to you. Furthermore, we only store the data that you have automatically or voluntarily transmitted to us.

When you use one of our services, we typically only collect the data necessary to provide you with our service. We may ask you for further information, but this is voluntary. Whenever we process personal data, we do so to provide you with our service or to pursue our commercial goals.

Establishment of contact

When contacting us (e.g. via contact form, email, telephone or social media), the details of the enquiring persons are processed to the extent necessary to respond to the contact enquiries and any requested measures.
Responding to contact requests within the framework of contractual or pre-contractual relationships is done to fulfil our contractual obligations or to respond to (pre-)contractual enquiries and, in addition, on the basis of legitimate interests in responding to enquiries.

  • Types of data processed: Inventory data (e.g. names, addresses), contact details (e.g. email, telephone numbers), content data (e.g. entries in online forms).
  • Data subjects: Communication partners.
  • Purposes of processing: Contact enquiries and communication.
  • Legal bases: Contract fulfilment and pre-contractual enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Automatically stored non-personal data

When you visit our website, we store certain information for administrative and technical reasons. This includes: the type and version of the browser used, the date and time of access, and the IP address.
This data is anonymised and used solely for statistical purposes or to improve our internet and online services.
This anonymised data is stored separately from personal data on secure systems and cannot be attributed to individual persons. This means that your personal data remains protected at all times.

Server log files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

  • Date and time of the request
  • Name of the requested file
  • Page from which the file was requested
  • Access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)
  • Web browser and operating system used
  • Full IP address of the requesting computer
  • Amount of data transferred

This data is not merged with other data sources. Processing is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website.
For reasons of technical security, in particular to defend against attempts to attack our web server, we store this data for a short period of time. It is not possible for us to draw conclusions about individual persons based on this data. After seven days at the latest, the data is anonymised by shortening the IP address at domain level so that it is no longer possible to establish a connection to individual users. The data is also processed in anonymised form for statistical purposes; it is not compared with other data sets or passed on to third parties, even in excerpts. The number of page views is only presented in our server statistics, which we publish every two years in our activity report.

Cookies

When you visit our websites, we may store information on your computer in the form of cookies. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier for the cookie. It consists of a string of characters that can be used to assign websites and servers to the specific web browser in which the cookie was stored. This enables the visited websites and servers to distinguish the individual browser of the person concerned from other Internet browsers that contain other cookies. A specific Internet browser can be recognised and identified via the unique cookie ID.

By using session cookies, the controller can provide users of this website with a user-friendly service that would not be possible without the use of cookies. Without consent, we only use technically necessary cookies on the legal basis of legitimate interest in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We only use personal cookies to improve our website or for marketing/advertising purposes with your consent. On your first visit, you can voluntarily agree to tracking or analysis via the cookie banner that appears. Your data may be passed on to partners or third-party providers. These cookies are only stored if you explicitly agree to this; the legal basis is then your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.
You can change your settings for the use of cookies here at any time:

Google Analytics with anonymization function

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Analytics enables the website operator to analyse the behaviour of website visitors. The website operator receives various usage data, such as page views, length of stay, operating systems used and the origin of the user. This data is assigned to the user’s respective end device. It is not assigned to a device ID.

Furthermore, we can use Google Analytics to record your mouse and scroll movements and clicks, among other things.
In addition, Google Analytics uses various modelling approaches to supplement the collected data sets and uses machine learning technologies in data analysis.

Google Analytics uses technologies that enable user recognition for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Google about the use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

The use of this service is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and 25 (1) TDDDG. Consent can be revoked at any time. Data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission. Details can be found here:
https://privacy.google.com/businesses/controllerterms/mccs/.

We use Google Signals. When you visit our website, Google Analytics collects your
location, search history, YouTube history, demographic data (visitor data), and other information. This data can be used for personalised advertising with the help of Google Signals. If you have a Google account, Google Signal links the visitor data to your Google account and uses it for personalised advertising messages. The data is also used to create anonymised statistics on the user behaviour of our users.

We have concluded a contract for order processing (AV) in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider only processes the personal data of our website visitors in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

This website uses the ‘e-commerce measurement’ function of Google Analytics. With the help of e-commerce measurement, the website operator can analyse the purchasing behaviour of website visitors in order to improve its online marketing campaigns. This involves collecting information such as orders placed, average order values, shipping costs and the time from viewing to purchasing a product. This data can be summarised by Google under a transaction ID that is assigned to the respective user or their device.

Google Maps

This site uses the Google Maps map service. The provider is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

To use the functions of Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This
information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The provider of this site has no influence on this data transfer. If Google Maps is activated, Google may use Google Web Fonts for the purpose of uniform font display. When you access Google Maps, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache in order to display texts and fonts correctly.

Google Maps is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offerings and to ensure that the locations specified by us on the website can be found easily. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
If consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG, insofar as consent has been given. If consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and 25 para. 1 TDDDG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s terminal device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent can be revoked at any time.

Data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
Details can be found here:
https://privacy.google.com/businesses/gdprcontrollerterms/ and
https://privacy.google.com/businesses/gdprcontrollerterms/sccs/.

For more information on how user data is handled, please refer to Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.

YouTube

This website embeds videos from YouTube. The operator of the site is Google Ireland Limited (‘Google’), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store any information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the extended data protection mode does not necessarily exclude the transfer of data to YouTube partners. YouTube establishes a connection to the Google DoubleClick network regardless of whether you watch a video.

As soon as you start a YouTube video on this website, a connection to the YouTube servers is established.
This tells the YouTube server which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to associate your surfing behaviour directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Furthermore, after starting a video, YouTube may store various cookies on your device or use comparable recognition technologies (e.g. device fingerprinting). In this way, YouTube can obtain information about visitors to this website. This information is used, among other things, to collect video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent fraud attempts.

After a YouTube video has been started, further data processing operations may be triggered over which we have no influence. YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offerings. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

Further information on data protection at YouTube can be found in their privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.

Ticket shop (pretix)

Within our range of events, we use the pretix service offered by rami.io GmbH, Berthold-Mogel-Straße 1, 69126 Heidelberg, Germany, for ticket sales.
The ticket shop is integrated into our website via a JavaScript widget. When you purchase a ticket via this widget, pretix sets a technically necessary cookie to enable the ordering process and to correctly assign the respective shopping basket. The cookie is only set once you interact with the ticket shop.
According to the provider, pretix does not store IP addresses, browser information or other unnecessary metadata beyond the duration of the respective request. Processing is carried out exclusively for the purpose of purchasing tickets and the associated contractual processing.
The processing of personal data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (contract performance) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and functional provision of the ticket shop).
Further information on data protection at pretix can be found in the provider’s privacy policy at:
https://pretix.eu/about/de/privacy

Sending invitations to events

When you purchase a ticket for one of our events or register to receive event invitations, we process your email address for the purpose of sending invitations and event-related information.
Depending on the specific case, processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (implementation of pre-contractual measures or fulfilment of a contract) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the organisation, implementation and promotion of our events).
As part of the registration or sign-up process, we also store your IP address and the date and time of registration. This processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and serves to verify that you have registered correctly and to protect against misuse of our services.
You can revoke your consent to receive event invitations at any time with future effect. To do so, simply send us an informal message, e.g. by email. In addition, all invitations contain a corresponding unsubscribe link.

Versand von Newslettern und E-Mail-Kommunikation mit Brevo

We use Brevo, a service provided by Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany (hereinafter referred to as ‘Brevo’), to send newsletters and other email communications.
Brevo is a service that can be used, among other things, to organise and evaluate the sending and analysis of newsletters. The data you enter for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter (e.g. email address, name if applicable) is stored on Brevo’s servers in the European Union.
The data is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future, e.g. via the unsubscribe link in the newsletter.
Brevo also enables us to analyse user behaviour, for example by evaluating whether an email has been opened and which links have been clicked on (so-called tracking). These evaluations are used for statistical analysis and to optimise our communication.
A data processing agreement has been concluded with Brevo in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, in which Brevo is obliged to protect our users’ data, to process it exclusively in accordance with our instructions and not to pass it on to third parties.
Further information on data protection at Brevo can be found in the provider’s privacy policy.

Mailjet

This website uses Mailjet to send newsletters. The provider is Mailgun Technologies Inc., 112 E Pecan Sr. #1135, San Antonio, Texas 78205, USA.

Mailjet is a service that can be used to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters, among other things. The data you enter for the purpose of receiving the newsletter is stored on Mailjet’s servers.

With the help of Mailjet, we are able to analyse our newsletter campaigns. For example, we can see whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links have been clicked on. This allows us to determine, among other things, which links were clicked on particularly often.

We can also see whether certain predefined actions were performed after opening/clicking (conversion rate). For example, we can see whether you made a purchase after clicking on the newsletter.

Mailjet also allows us to divide newsletter recipients into different categories (‘clusters’). Newsletter recipients can be divided according to age, gender or place of residence, for example. This allows us to better tailor the newsletter to the respective target groups. If you do not want Mailjet to analyse your data, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a link for this purpose in every newsletter message.

For detailed information on Mailjet’s features, please visit the following link:
https://www.mailjet.de/funktion/.

Mailjet’s privacy policy can be found at:
https://www.mailjet.de/sicherheit-datenschutz/.

Data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. The legality of data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

Data transfer to the USA is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission.
Details can be found here:
https://www.mailjet.de/av-vertrag/.

The data you provide us with for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from the newsletter distribution list after you unsubscribe. Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.

After you unsubscribe from the newsletter distribution list, your email address will be stored by us or the newsletter service provider in a blacklist, if necessary, in order to prevent future mailings. The data from the blacklist will only be used for this purpose and will not be merged with other data. This serves both your interests and our interests in complying with the legal requirements for sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). There is no time limit for storage on the blacklist. You can object to the storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.

We have concluded a contract for order processing (AV) in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR with the above-mentioned provider. This is a contract required by data protection law, which ensures that the provider only processes the personal data of our website visitors in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Whenever we collect and process personal data, it is encrypted before it is transmitted. This means that your data cannot be misused by third parties. Our security measures are subject to a continuous improvement process and our privacy policies are constantly being revised. Please ensure that you have the latest version.

We reserve the right to amend our privacy policy if this becomes necessary due to new technologies. Please ensure that you have the latest version.
